PRO-PHILIPPINES OR DDS? YOU CAN BE BOTH—OR NEITHER

Sa political discussions karon, dali ra kaayo ta ma-label.

Kung dili ka DDS, tawgon dayon ka og “Kakampink.” Kung mosaway ka sa usa ka Duterte, ingnon ka nga kontra ka sa pamilya Duterte. Ug kung mosuporta ka sa ilang policies, mahimo pud kang tawgon nga DDS.

Pero necessary ba gyud nga naa ta sa usa ka political camp?

PRO-PHILIPPINES ≠ PRO-DUTERTE

Ang pagka-pro-Philippines dili automatic nga pagka-DDS.

Ang DDS o Diehard Duterte Supporters usa ka label nga kasagarang gigamit para sa mga loyal supporters ni former President Rodrigo Duterte ug sa Duterte political movement. (Wikipedia)

Pero ang pagka-pro-Philippines mas lapad.

Pwede kang mosuporta sa usa ka Duterte policy kung para nimo maayo kini sa nasud, pero mosupak sa laing policy kung para nimo sayop.

Pwede pud kang mosaway sa usa ka politician without hating the people who support that politician.

DILI TANAN NGA KRITIKO, KAKAMPINK

Usa sa problema sa political debate mao ang “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” mentality.

Kung dili ka mosuporta kang Duterte, dili pasabot nga automatic kang supporter ni Leni Robredo.

Kung dili ka supporter sa Marcos administration, dili pud pasabot nga DDS ka.

And if you support a Duterte, that does not automatically mean you support everything the Duterte family does.

Political opinions are not always black and white.

SUPPORT THE COUNTRY, QUESTION THE LEADERS

Being pro-Philippines should mean putting the country and its people first.

Kung maayo ang gibuhat sa gobyerno, pwede nato suportahan.

Kung adunay sayop, pwede nato pangutan-on.

Kung adunay allegation, dapat imbestigahan.

Ug kung adunay ebidensya nga klaro, dapat adunay accountability—regardless kung kinsa ang politician.

Kay ang loyalty sa nasud dili kinahanglan nga parehas sa loyalty sa usa ka political family.

SO, DDS OR PRO-PHILIPPINES?

Maybe the better question is:

Ngano kinahanglan mamili kung pwede man kang mahimong pro-Philippines first?

Dili kinahanglan nga DDS, Kakampink, Marcos loyalist, or any political label para mahimong concerned citizen.

At the end of the day, politicians come and go, but the Philippines remains.

Unaha ang Pilipinas. Pangutan-a ang mga lider. Ug ayaw himoa nga political label ang sukdanan sa pagka-Pilipino.
